Part of being Singaporean is having to deal with the mozzies – mosquitoes ranging from your typical garden-variety to the more infamous Aedes mosquitoes. With last year’s Zika outbreaks and an increasing number of dengue cases, our sunny island has been looking for new ways to combat the mosquito menace. RIP #InstagramTree: Our Tree-bute To The Punggol Landmark

The Housing and Development Board announced yesterday (December 9) that the popular “Instagram Tree” located at Punggol Waterway Park will be removed on December 16, referred to here as The Day The Tree Leaves. The barren tree is/was a well-known attraction online, with its uniquely desolate surroundings (sunset beyond its knoll, no other trees nearby) painting a rather bleak and intriguing picture.
